Block 11 held the execution chambers at Auschwitz. Among
the million-plus people murdered there was a Polish priest named
Maximilian Kolbe. Canonized in 1985, St. Max was a writer and
publisher who used the technology of his time to advocate for
justice and compassion for all. He died a painful death after
voluntarily taking the place of another man.
Concentration camps and execution blocks do not appear
without warning. They are built in the beginning by well-meaning,
offended people 'protecting the children' with book bans and
censorship.
Block 11 Books are works in the public domain that have
been on a forbidden list because once upon a time something about
the content pissed somebody off. All the books in the B11B series
are available free for download as ebooks at Gutenberg Press. The
purpose of this series of print editions is to offer them in a
convenient, low cost format.
Some of us just prefer paper. Once you buy it, you own it.
No rent is due. Print books have a habit of surviving long periods
without electricity.
